Save Me A Place
If you should get there before I do,
save me a place at your left side
I will be along in my own time
Meanwhile, I will water the pansies
while the woodpeckers work out their
own frustrations on the tall pines.
I will plant red and white impatiens
and wait for the Caroina wren
to build her nest in the hanging
basket outside the back door..
I'll walk the hills kicking rocks
and acorns down the craacked
pavement, and listen to the leaves
share secrets as I wait to
crossover the bridge to you.
